Grizzlies Game - April 26, 2009

Bullard Cal Ripken Parents and Families: On Saturday I handed out the Grizzlies packets for ticket sales. For those of you new to our league, Grizzlies Game Day is a very special day for our kids and their families. At the Grizzlies Game on April 26 the kids will all get to arrive early in their uniforms, line up and walk all around the Grizzlies game field (on the field itself) before the game starts. The announcer will announce each team, they'll get shown up on the big screen as they walk by, and they'll get to wave to their families and friends up in the stands as they proudly walk around the entire baseball field. Parker, the Grizzlies mascot, will be there, and they might even get to high-five some Grizzlies players. It is a wonderful picture opportunity for the kids and families. I've found that Grizzlies Day is a day the kids always remember, and is one of their favorite baseball memories.

Grizzlies Day is also an important fund raising day for the league. Bullard Cal Ripken is given a portion of every ticket that is sold by our league for Grizzlies Day. This money helps us keep our registration costs down, and also helps us provide all of the equipment, uniforms, field work, and so on. The kids are asked to sell as many tickets to this game as they can. They can sell the tickets to anyone and everyone (families, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc). They just need to collect the money and turn it in to Coach Lawton by practice on Thursday, April 16. The league will then deliver the tickets and the kids can hand them out to all purchasers the week before the game.

There are GREAT prizes for teams who sell the most tickets, including sitting in the dugout suits with free food for the entire game; the Field of Dreams (going on the field with the Grizzlies players for the national anthem); participating in the contests between innings, and for the kid who sells the most tickets: throwing out the first pitch at the game.

It is REALLY a great time, especially when the entire team attends and walks together with the coach. It really is a proud moment for the kids, and a very fun night for all.

WE WILL ALSO AGAIN HAVE THE AUCTION AT THE GRIZZLIES GAME, AND WE'RE STILL TAKING ANY AND ALL AUCTION ITEMS YOU CAN DONATE FOR US TO AUCTION OFF. If an item is small, we'll package it with something else, so please reply back to me and/or Kip with any and all items you can donate.

We'll see you on Sunday, April 26 at the Grizzlies Game.

Important T-Ball Dates!

Welcome to the Dodgers! The game schedule should be available within the next week. For those of you new to T-Ball, games are held on Saturdays at Malloch Elementary School. The first game is Saturday, March 21st. My plan is to hold 1 practice a week during the season (day & time to be determined). Before the season I would like to practice 1-2 times per week. I would like to start next week and will email you shortly regarding the date & time.

Important dates for the 2009 T-Ball Season:

March 14th - Last day to donate water, sodas, juice boxes, gatorades, etc. for the Carnival and snack bar during the season. The two teams with the highest donations will win prizes! Please email me if you would like to donate so that arranagments can be made to collect your donations. This is also the last day to turn in your form and money for pre-sale wristbands for inflatables and tickets for food. The pre-sale forms allow you to purchase the items at a discounted rate. I will hand out the pre-sale form at the first practice.

March 21st - This is a BIG day! We will have our first game, team pictures AND the carnival. The Bullard Cal Ripken Carnival is the largest fundraiser of the year and we really encourage you to come out and participate in the fun. The best part is the carnvial, pictures & games will all be at one location, so there is no reason not to attend. If you would like to volunteer to help at the carnvial, please contact Shelli Armstrong at 905-1085 or ohshelli@yahoo.com. Parent involvement is greatly needed and appreciated!

April 26th - Grizzly Night at Chuckchansi Park - more details to follow.

Team Responsiblities -
** Each team is responsible for obtaining a $200 sponsorship. Should the sponsor want an advertisement the donation is $300. If anyone knows someone/company/etc. who would like to sponsor the T-Ball Dodgers please let me know. Should we not find a sponsor, the team responsiblity would be +/- $15.00 per player.
** Each team is responsible for 5 hours over two different days to volunteer at the Malloch snack bar. I will provide a schedule to you prior to the first game. The schedule will not conflict with your child's game.

Looking forward to a FUN season!
