Grizzlies Game - April 26, 2009

Bullard Cal Ripken Parents and Families: On Saturday I handed out the Grizzlies packets for ticket sales. For those of you new to our league, Grizzlies Game Day is a very special day for our kids and their families. At the Grizzlies Game on April 26 the kids will all get to arrive early in their uniforms, line up and walk all around the Grizzlies game field (on the field itself) before the game starts. The announcer will announce each team, they'll get shown up on the big screen as they walk by, and they'll get to wave to their families and friends up in the stands as they proudly walk around the entire baseball field. Parker, the Grizzlies mascot, will be there, and they might even get to high-five some Grizzlies players. It is a wonderful picture opportunity for the kids and families. I've found that Grizzlies Day is a day the kids always remember, and is one of their favorite baseball memories.

Grizzlies Day is also an important fund raising day for the league. Bullard Cal Ripken is given a portion of every ticket that is sold by our league for Grizzlies Day. This money helps us keep our registration costs down, and also helps us provide all of the equipment, uniforms, field work, and so on. The kids are asked to sell as many tickets to this game as they can. They can sell the tickets to anyone and everyone (families, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc). They just need to collect the money and turn it in to Coach Lawton by practice on Thursday, April 16. The league will then deliver the tickets and the kids can hand them out to all purchasers the week before the game.

There are GREAT prizes for teams who sell the most tickets, including sitting in the dugout suits with free food for the entire game; the Field of Dreams (going on the field with the Grizzlies players for the national anthem); participating in the contests between innings, and for the kid who sells the most tickets: throwing out the first pitch at the game.

It is REALLY a great time, especially when the entire team attends and walks together with the coach. It really is a proud moment for the kids, and a very fun night for all.

WE WILL ALSO AGAIN HAVE THE AUCTION AT THE GRIZZLIES GAME, AND WE'RE STILL TAKING ANY AND ALL AUCTION ITEMS YOU CAN DONATE FOR US TO AUCTION OFF. If an item is small, we'll package it with something else, so please reply back to me and/or Kip with any and all items you can donate.

We'll see you on Sunday, April 26 at the Grizzlies Game.
